Makarska Municipal Museum

Archaeological collection: Holdings are divided into several sub-collections: Ceramics, Metal, Stone plastics, Numismatics, Miscellaneous and Replicas. The largest
sub-collection is Ceramics, which with only a few fragments of prehistoric recipients, has a number of amphoras, antique and late antique dishes, Roman bricks with seals workshop, fragments of medieval vessels belonging to the period between the 7th to 14th centuries, while the Modern Age is represented by maiolica, various fragments of bowls, plates and bowls.

Cultural and Historical Collection:

Collection of invent 142 cases, of which majority are useful objects and furniture from the 19th and early 20th century. A collection of art works from the 17th to 19th century., Although small, is very valuable because of its cultural and historical significance of this city. Besides portraits, there is a canvas Lamentation of Christ, by an unknown Venetian master from the 17th century, and graphics Makarska Bishop Nicholas Bijankovića from the 18th century.
Subcollection of heraldic material consists of copies, painted and plastered replicas of coats of arms of Makarska noble families and church dignitaries, and the oldest stone coat of arms of Makarska Riviera from 1775. The collection of keys, consisting of 77 pieces of various keys, and belong to a time span of 17th to 19th century, donated Rose Cvingl 1995. In 1999 the collection was enriched with new donated objects: sewing machine brand singer of 1900, and maritime Baule-the-century. The collection is further expanded by individual donations and buying.

The ethnographic collection:

The collection consists of over 200 items, personal and home daily use, items for agriculture, livestock breeding, fishing, and furniture and traditional handicrafts from the first half of the 20th century used in the wider area of Makarska Riviera.
Most of them were bought from the private collection of Anka Puharić from Makarska and donating Martin LENDIĆ from the village of Rascani.
The most interesting part of the collection consists of preserved elements of folk costumes of this region and reconstructed traditional, male and female formal attire of the Makarska Riviera. The collection is enriched over the last year a number of interesting individual donations of usable objects from the early 20th century.

A collection of recent history:

A collection of recent history is the oldest and today the largest collection of the City Museum, which is the formation and founded this museum. It consists of seven sub-collections: Weapons, Money, Photos, Old postcards, photo - chronicle and Miscellaneous, which contains smaller sub-collections such as flags, insignia, technical objects and signet.
